Sherborne House,
Dorset

Oldland M&E Services have been engaged by Stonewood Builders Ltd to carry out the M&E works at the £20 million restoration of Sherborne House, Dorset. Working closely with Historic England, Spase Design and Qoda Consulting we are breathing life back into this Grade I listed Georgian mansion, on its journey to becoming a multidisciplinary art space for accessible events and art exhibition venue.

Also featuring a café and restaurant, the building boasts an additional flexible office, artists’ studio, and workshop space whilst the addition of a contemporary multifunction rear extension is also in progress. The Trust’s restoration will provide Sherborne with an excellent arts facility, and it will also secure the long-term financial viability of the house. One of the many significant historical features is the staircase, decorated with a magnificent mural painted by Sir James Thornhill, who also worked on the Painted Hall, St Paul’s Cathedral, and works at Chatsworth House.
